Founded in 1957 Cape Coral is a city located in Lee County, Florida, United States, on the Gulf of Mexico and in Southwest Florida. It had become so popular that by 2010, it had grown to a population of about 154,305. By 2017, it had an estimated 183,000 and it continues to grow steadily and in popularity.
With an area of 120 square miles (310km2), Cape Coral is the largest city between Tampa and Miami. Though it isn't the central hub of Lee County as Fort Myers is known to be, It is a principal city in the Cape Coral Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Fun Fact: When founded in 1957, Real estate developers and founders Leonard and Jack Rosen purchased a 103-square-mile (270km2) tract known as Redfish Point for $678,000 in that year and, in 1958, began development of the city as a master-planned, pre-planned community.
The city is known as a "Waterfront Wonderland", with over 400mi (640km) of navigable waterways, it is known to have more miles of canals than any other city in the world and still attracts folks from all over to its wonders.
